Rob Lewis is a composer, producer and cellist hailing from London.

In 2018 he released his critically acclaimed album ‘Momentum’, a collection of ten stunning unique tracks inspired by nature humanity and the constant strife between the two. It was premiered by Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC 6 Music and performed at Kew Gardens as part of the show ‘Harmonic’. He created a special mix of ‘Roots’ for The Ambient Zone, also a beautiful piano version of the same track from this album.

His follow up album ‘98’ was released in 2020 and was commissioned by Google.

Rob also specialises in music for film, TV and live spaces. He has composed for an array of high-profile projects in TV and film for BBC, Channel 4, Discovery +, Hulu, Sky and various independent productions.

His unique style puts a contemporary twist on classical music combining traditional instruments with more modern production techniques. Collaborations include Baz Luhrmann, BAFTA winner David Holmes, Noel Gallagher and rapper Dave, to name a few. As a professional cellist and multi-instrumentalist, Rob is able to lean on many different instruments to create inspiring, energetic and emotive scores.

When performed live, his compositions are created in one take using a cello, simple effects and a loop pedal; all manipulated using expression pedals. Loops are kept dynamic by changing the playback direction of the recorded material whilst adding new textures using unique sounds on the cello. Each composition is written with the idea of mixing it completely live, and as a result no track ever sounds the same twice, the resulting sound crossing the boundaries of contemporary classical and experimental electronic.
